Summer of Skateboarding in Eugene
on Aug 04 in Skate Community by NicEach summer, the City of Eugene, Oregon hosts its annual Summer in City events featuring more than 40 free events of outdoor live music events, movies, breakfasts at bike bridges, and skate competitions. This summer, we have three skate competitions scheduled in Eugene.
For $3, skaters of all ages and abilities are welcome to try their best tricks in hopes of earning the gold medal, bragging rights and respect. All proceeds from each competition goes to Skaters for Eugene Skateparks to fund the Washington-Jefferson Skate Park.
This summer’s first skate competition was scheduled for June 18 at Cal Young Skate Park; however, it rained on everyone’s parade causing event organizers to postpone the competition. The event was rescheduled for September 4 and will take place at the same park.
The first skate competition was held on July 23 at Churchill Skate Park. The Shoe GOO Skate team was at the park passing out Shoe Goo stickers and small tubes of GOO. One member of the Shoe GOO Skate team, Jordan Brandt, placed third in the Masters division. The winners of each division received Shoe GOO skate t-shirts, stickers and samples of Shoe GOO.
Here are some photos from the competition courtesy of Jordan Brandt.
Be sure to look for Shoe GOO at the next Summer in the City skate competition scheduled for August 20 at Willamalane Skate Park in Springfield, Oregon.
